This is a good quality Oil Strainer Filter for the standard 30hp (36hp SAE) Type-1 based 1200cc aircooled VW engines with fixed generator pedestal. This size is suitable for 1957-1960 model aircooled Type-1 25hp & 30hp engines as originally found in early bugs and buses with the larger oil pickup pipe.

On a standard 30hp engine this is the only filter, so it is imperative that it is clean and in good condition to ensure the smooth running and longevity of your engine. This strainer is the only thing that prevents particles and impurities from getting sucked up into the oil pickup pipe in the sump.
